In observance of World Environment Day 2026, the Department of Environment organized a 7-day Environment Fair at the Bangladesh-China Friendship International Convention Centre, Dhaka. The Center for Environmental and Geographic Information Services (CEGIS) participated in the fair, showcasing its activities, achievements, and contributions to environmental management, climate resilience, and sustainable development.
After inaugurating the World Environment Day 2026 programs on 09 July 2026, the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Mr. Tarique Rahman, MP, visited the CEGIS stall. He was warmly welcomed by Mr. Kazi Kamrull Hassan, Director of Ecology, Forestry and Biodiversity Division, CEGIS. The Hon’ble Prime Minister expressed his keen interest in the activities of CEGIS.
During the visit, he briefed the Hon’ble Prime Minister about CEGIS and highlighted its role as a center of excellence in environmental management, water resources management, climate change and disaster management, biodiversity conservation, database development, and geospatial technology. He also presented CEGIS’s ongoing initiatives and innovative approaches for supporting sustainable development and evidence-based decision-making aiming to safeguard the environment of Bangladesh.
