Career Summary

Mr. Sabih Safwat has been working as a Research Consultant in the Climate Change and Disaster Management Division for over a year. He holds an academic background in Civil & Environmental Engineering, and Water Resource Development. He has developed expertise in climate change risk assessment, adaptation planning, geospatial analysis, and disaster risk management. His experience spans national and international projects aligned with global frameworks such as the Paris Agreement and UNFCCC reporting processes.

Mr. Safwat is proficient in industry-relevant software including ArcGIS, MS Excel, and AutoCAD, with strong capabilities in spatial analysis, data processing, and technical drafting. He has contributed to the preparation of key national reports, including chapters on climate change impacts, adaptation, and climate finance for Bangladesh’s Biennial Transparency Report (BTR1) and Fourth National Communication (NC4). He has also worked on developing climate risk indices, GIS-based decision-support systems, and landslide risk assessments in the Chattogram Hill Tracts.

He has practical experience in both quantitative and qualitative research methods, including stakeholder consultation and field-based assessments of climate adaptation interventions. He has been actively involved in projects related to loss and damage framework development, agroecological landscape restoration, watershed management, nature-based solutions and climate-resilient WASH. He has worked with various national and international organizations and development partners, contributing to evidence-based policy support and climate-resilient development initiatives.
