Since 2025, Ms. Tasfia Faija Orpa has been working with the Center for Environmental and Geographic Information Services as a Research Consultant in the Climate Change and Disaster Management Division. She has experience in the fields of climate change, disaster risk reduction, environmental impact assessment, GIS-based spatial analysis, and environmental data analysis.
Ms. Tasfia Faija Orpa is proficient in an array of software, including ArcGIS, QGIS, Google Earth Pro, Kobo Toolbox, and Python. She has been involved in projects related to climate change impacts and adaptation, climate-induced loss and damage assessment, climate migration and displacement, landslide risk assessment, and environmental studies in coastal and hill regions of Bangladesh.
During her academic tenure at Patuakhali Science and Technology University, she conducted research on groundwater quality and human health risk assessment in urban areas of Dhaka, focusing on contamination analysis and associated health risks. She applied field sampling, laboratory testing, and risk assessment models to identify potential hazards and propose mitigation strategies. Her academic work also included projects on river watershed analysis, urban ecosystem services, and environmental impact assessment, where she utilized GIS tools, field surveys, and spatial data analysis to evaluate environmental changes and socio-economic impacts.
In addition to her technical expertise, she has developed strong leadership and organizational skills through her involvement in student organizations, voluntary activities, and professional training programs. She has actively participated in workshops, seminars, and training sessions on climate change, GIS, and integrated water resources management, further strengthening her professional capacity.
